Waiting for my fur baby to come home!

My husband and I worked hard this evening to set up Samba’s recovery room for when she comes home tomorrow. We blocked off the guest bed with the mattresses standing upright, and made her a little cave to rest in. We lined part of the room with a tarp under a runner rug to serve as a mess-proof pathway to her modified litter box. I elevated her bowls, finished off her onesies, and set out a basin of lickable foods I hope she likes. I still need to go grab some frozen peas to use as her ice pack, and maybe some broth. Did any of your kitties drink broth? Also, I need to bring in a mattress for myself to sleep on. I know I will want to be very near to her.
It is almost as if I’m nesting for a newborn baby, and some of you have endorsed this as a similar type of adjustment period!

Sister cat, Sassy the Aggressor, approves.

Wow, great job. It’ll be fun to see if Samba approves. At least Sassy does. I had no clue what to do with Mona but knew she needed a quiet room so I could easily nab her when needed. Well… Mona had some of her own ideas, so don’t be surprised if Samba gives you some directions.

    Hugs to you and Samba,
    Kerren and Tripawd Kitty Mona

Funny Mona! What did she try to talk you into? Samba has been interested in escaping the room a few times, but overall seems content there!

Aw, thanks, Sally! I have been a ball of nerves, but it helped knowing I was doing my best to welcome Samba to a warm sanctuary. Thanks again for calling me back the other day! You are a dear!

Hi there! I am honored that you would want to read about Samba! It’s really something how one little cat can mean so much. I know you understand!

Good looking setup, I hope everything goes smoothly! Hopefully Sassy won’t freak out when she sees the new Samba 🙂

You know, that’s funny – for the first time, Sassy was the one hissing at Samba! Until now, it’s been Samba hissing at Sassy! I think Sassy got used to being the only kitty while Samba was at the hospital, and now she is protesting…
Oh well, after a couple weeks of separation between them during the convalescent period, maybe they’ll just decide to make peace.

Good job! I think that Samba will have a smooth recovery thanks to all your efforts. Good luck and please keep us posted OK?
