Samba shows us that her zest for life is not gone!

I am up late reading everyone’s kind comments and preparing for our oncology follow-up and surgery consult tomorrow.  There have been family members praying and well wishes from so many of you.  I can see that Samba is being moved to send us a message, and that message is that she still wants to live!  She is returning to some of her charming old ways that I have not seen her do for a long time.  She is telling me that she is the same old Samba as always, and to fight for her because she loves life with us.  For instance, she has been sitting on my husband’s shoes and even “wearing them”, even though his flip flops are about the size of her whole body!  She also played vigorously with a toy for a few minutes yesterday on the stairway.  She is stopping for lots of pets, and purring very much.  She sat with me on the couch for a whole movie tonight.  And she has not been starting -quite- as many fights with her pesky kitten roommate (it would be going to far to say “friend”).  I am thankful to remember the things about Samba that make her unique, that she is doing her very best to show me in this time of uncertainty and difficulty.  Here is me holding her about 7 years ago, and here she is this week resting on my study desk.  This towel makes the hard desk softer for her senior self!  Finally, a baby picture!

  1. Samba was my “only child” for a long time, so I have sooo many pictures of her baby days! : ) I am sure many of you are the same way!

  2. Samba, you are a beauty and strong! In my opinion black short-haired cats are full of love, resilient and have a great desire to live life. You are showing this by claiming the your dad’s shoes and hanging out with your mom.

Mona will send you sun rays for your appointment tomorrow – she’s catching them now by rolling around in the gravel.

    Sending ear scratches and hugs,
    Kerren and Mona

  3. It strengthens me to hear your optimistic opinion about black short-haired cats! I knew there was something special about her! ; )
I love the sun ray imagery! Mona, I am so glad you know how to catch those sun rays because I really needed them today!
